The Basis of Astrology

Astrology is based on the movements of our solar system —the Earth on its journey around the Sun, the Moon, and the other planets circling the Sun.
From the earliest times until the 17th century, it was assumed the world was governed by the movement of the heavens and celestial bodies. This was the universal law. It was believed that the great store of energy originating from the heavens was projected on the Earth and affected all living things. The birth and growth of every living thing on Earth was attributed to "Celestial Virtue"—the Earth mirrored the heavens—as above, so below.
Although the so-called Age of Reason virtually "threw out the baby with the bath water", there remained a nucleus of astrologers who continued to practice by interpreting planetary movements.
Today, astrology is an interpretive art. Predictability is a goal of all arts and sciences. Modern astrologers are able to tell how we fit into the cosmic pattern. The position of the planets at time of birth show the characteristics brought into this life. From this information, a person’s potential and forecast for future events can be derived. The astrologer’s role is to identify personal talent potentials, indicate areas of difficulty and show how they are a vehicle for growth.
